Munchkin

Munchkin is a collectable card game from Steve Jackson Games.

It takes the elements of Dungeons and Dragons-style RPGs (wizards, elves, dwarves; swords and monsters), and spoofs them into a fast-paced, easy-to-play, and very funny card game. Play is based on points in your hand and uses only a standard 6-sided die and some sort of level counters (poker chips, 10-sided dice, etc).

The game's motto is: "Kill The Monsters • Steal The Treasure • Stab Your Buddy" - cheating is expected, rules apply except when they don't, and there is steady commerce in barter and bribery.

Use the Kneepads of Allure to force another player to help you without reward, or curse them with the Chicken On Your Head! card (lose any armored headgear, can't get more until the chicken is removed). Kick in the door and loot the room. Pick a fight with the Dread Gazebo, or Whine at the GM, Go Up A Level. But remember, what goes around, comes around - someday you too may be face to face with the Duck Of Doom!

There are spin-offs in other genres, such as Munchkin Fu, Star Munchkin, etc., and expansion sets for all of them. I have Munchkin, Munchkin 2: Unnatural Axe, Munchkin 3: Clerical Errors, Munchkin Fu, and Munchkin Blender (general booster pack).
